Michelle Swanson is Manager of Community Relations for Xcel Energy, a leading
combination electricity and natural gas energy company serving 3.7 million
electricity customers and 2.1 million natural gas customers throughout eight
states.

Michelle’s current responsibilities include managing relationships with
communities in the areas of operations, energy policy, emergency response,
economic development and business retention and expansion. She has worked
with Xcel Energy and its predecessor Northern States Power for 39 years and has
held a variety of positions at the Company, including positions in Energy
Forecasting, Business Analysis, Environmental Affairs and Regulatory Affairs.

Michelle currently serves on the Board of Directors for VEAP, a Bloomington
based non-profit that provides access to healthy food, housing stability and
supportive services and also serves on the Eden Prairie and Robbinsdale
Chamber Board of Directors.

She has previously served on the Board of
Directors for the Minneapolis Regional Chamber, and Bloomington, Edina, and
Twin West Chambers of Commerce. As a Board member on these chambers,
Michelle contributed to the strategic direction of the organizations as well as
advising on their program offerings and supporting the organization thru
sponsorships and attendance at various events.

Leadership programs that Michelle has participated in include the Humphrey
Institute Policy Fellows program, Leadership Twin Cities and the MN Chamber
Leadership series. Michelle holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Geography
from the University of Iowa. She resides in Edina with her husband Kevin and has
two adult children.
